New Features Enhance RPM Print Server Software
Print Resources and Automated Print Error Recovery Enhance
RPM Remote Print Manager Print Server Software
Idaho Falls, ID. - December 2, 2002 - Windows® printing continues to become more reliable with the release of RPM Remote Print Manager® 9X version 2.5 (RPM 9X 2.5) from Brooks Internet Software, Inc. (Brooks). RPM 9X 2.5 is the latest version of the print server software to include enhanced capabilities for Windows 95/98/ME users.
RPM 9X 2.5 includes a new print engine, or resource scheduler, to manage print jobs with added efficiency over previous versions. The resource scheduler uses Windows resources more effectively, reducing the impact on the user's computer. The new version also boasts an automatic error recovery feature. The automatic error recovery steps in when an error occurs with a Windows resource and monitors it until the problem is resolved. This process reduces administrator time in error discovery and fixes.
"The RPM development team has created a unique print management software product with the introduction of the new print engine," said Dave Brooks, President of Brooks Internet Software, Inc.
"Once again our company pulled ideas and resources from years of print software development and customer interaction to produce a product which enhances the user's printing experience."
New RPM 9X 2.5 Feature and Enhancement Details:
Resource Scheduler - A new resource scheduler has been designed to provide faster turnaround for all printing tasks and use Windows resources with greater efficiency.
Print Error Recovery - Previous RPM Remote Print Manager (RPM) versions would suspend a queue when there is an error with the Windows resource. RPM 9X 2.5 now automatically resumes processing when the error is resolved, reducing the time spent administering queues.
Resource Status View - RPM 9X 2.5 now provides a new window to display status information on resources used by the software.
Brooks License Manager - Brooks License Manager displays license information and provides useful tools to administer the license. The license manager transforms a trial license to a registered license upon purchase, maintains license codes for reinstallations, and tracks add-on module registrations.
User Interface - Users and administrators can now view and configure RPM 9X 2.5 through a modern interface that provides advanced sorting and management of queues and print jobs.

RPM Supports Multiple Protocols
The RPM Remote Print Manager (RPM) product line of software print servers supports both the LPR/LPD and streams printing protocols enabling users to receive and customize print data from any AS/400, mainframe, UNIX or other operating system to any Windows printer. RPM is built to work seamlessly with Windows. While many print servers allow only a straight pass-through of data from the host system, RPM provides extensive formatting capabilities and file-saving options not found in other print server products.
Proven through Time and Testing
The RPM product line has been tested with mainframe printing systems including IP PrintWay, VPS, and Solve:EPS on MVS and OS/390; AS/400; with UNIX platforms such as RedHat Linux, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, SCO UNIX, and freeBSD; DEC VMS and OpenVMS, TCPware from Process Software, and UCX; and PC print clients INTELLIscribe®.
